General Objective
To promote the emotional well-being and mental health of young people living in the EU who are part of the education system, focusing on prevention and awareness-raising through a joint platform that includes the entire educational community and families.
Specific Objectives
- To increase knowledge about issues related to students’ mental health by conducting a transnational study and mapping resources or good practices related to this topic in EU member countries.
- Develop innovative, digital and transferable educational resources that enable professionals, teachers and families to acquire the knowledge, skills and competences to support young people facing mental health issues.
- Create a virtual platform aimed at young people in the EU, as well as professionals, teachers and families, which will serve as a space for support, training and awareness-raising.
- Raise awareness among the general population of the EU about the importance of young people’s mental health during their educational development.
Background
The project arose from a need identified by the various entities that make up the consortium, after observing that educational centres and education professionals do not always have the appropriate resources, tools and knowledge to address the mental health problems affecting secondary school students. Factors such as academic pressure, bullying, cyberbullying, poor emotional management and a lack of safe spaces for support can generate high levels of anxiety, stress and psychological distress in young people, affecting their academic performance and overall well-being.
Target groups
- Young people, aged between 12 and 18 in education or receiving care from organisations working in mental health. Special attention – to young people who are socially excluded or vulnerable due to socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation barriers.
- Mental health professionals and teachers, using created training and research content and improving the competencies so that they can identify mental health issues among the young people they work with and ensure the creation of safe centres.
- Educational centres and organisations working in the field of mental health.
- General population of the EU beneficiaries of the project campaign, raising awareness of mental health issues among young people.
Results
- Research with the participation of students, teachers and health professionals about main mental health issues affecting young people and Interactive Map of support centres.
- Training Course for professionals and teachers to train them in psychosocial support and social inclusion (based on the results obtained in the research).
- Virtual Platform – to support to young people and professionals.
- Awareness campaign – to raise awareness among the general population of the EU.
